  15. While the Domain Name System (DNS) is generally used to store
  16. predefined types of information (e.g., addresses of hosts), it is
  17. possible to use it to store information that has not been previously
  18. classified.  This paper describes a simple means to associate
  19. arbitrary string information (ASCII text) with attributes that have
  20. not been defined by the DNS.  It uses DNS TXT resource records to
  21. store the information.  It requires no change to current DNS
  22. implementations.

  24. This memo defines an Experimental Protocol for the Internet
  25. community.  Discussion and suggestions for improvement are requested.
  26. Please refer to the current edition of the "IAB Official Protocol
  27. Standards" for the standardization state and status of this protocol.
